Finland UNDP Partnership: Integrated Project Portfolio- Building Resilience in response to the Syria crisis

This report is a summary of results achieved in 2016 with the generous financial contribution from the Government of Finland of 4 million USD towards UNDP’s Integrated Project Portfolio “Building Resilience in Response to the Syria Crisis” to support livelihoods projects in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon as well as the Sub-Regional Response Facility (SRF).

In Syria, the finish government provided US$1,5 million to support advocacy and capacity development for social cohesion, community-based initiatives promoting social cohesion as well as programming support.

In Lebanon, US$400,000 were provided to UNDP Lebanon and the Common Space Initiative (CSI) under the umbrella of the UNDP programme to build consensus among national stakeholders, within the governance.

In Jordan, a total of US$ 1,6 million was allocated to UNDP Jordan to implement the UNDP Programme to Support Host Communities, within the sector of livelihoods creation, in livelihoods linked to green jobs and the private sector, income generation for women through innovation.

On the regional level, the Sub-Regional Response Facility (SEF) with the Finnish contribution of US$880,000 was successfully expanding resilience interventions in the two major crisis response plans, the Syria Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) and the Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan (3RP) and its national plans; creating a partnership platform to mainstream resilience-based approaches in Syria; and establish private sector and knowledge and innovation platforms in support of the Syria crisis response.
