Communications consultant for UN City


Under the guidance and direct supervision of UN City Public Diplomacy and Communications Advisor, the communications consultant supports the formulation and implementation of the communications and advocacy strategies to increase the standing and awareness of UN City with partners, the media and the public. 
The communication consultant works in close collaboration with Common Services, the UN City Interagency Communications Group,  staff of all UN agencies, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, government officials, media, multilateral and bilateral donors, educational institutions and civil society. The communication consultant may supervise support staff of the UN City Public Diplomacy and Communications Office.

Duties and Responsibilities
Summary of Key Functions:
•    Assist in implementing the UN City strategic communication plan with special focus on the UN City digital dialogue with external audiences, focusing on achievement on the following results:
o    Support to increased awareness of UN City mandate and goals through dissemination of information, organization of public events;
o    In coordination with supervisor development and preparation of materials for marketing and awareness-raising including briefing materials and press releases ;
o    Organization of publicity, advocacy, knowledge-sharing events and promotional opportunities. Provision of logistics support to the events;
o    Review of reference materials, identification of reference materials for retention. Maintenance of information database and photo library;
o    Research and retrieval of  data from internal and external sources;
o    Organization and implementation of joint UN information campaigns (UN Day, Culture Night, etc). 
•    Expansion, content management, development and editing of the UN City web site (UN.DK)
•    Support the implementation of redesign and architecture of the UN City web site
•    Support the development of and maintain a digital UN City design manual
•    Develop and implement a UN City social media strategy
•    Assist in the planning and set-up  of a digital visitors center on the UN City website
•    Production of tour packages, lectures, folders and other materials for UN City focusing on the achievement on the following results:
o    Suggestions, inputs, content development, coordination of production and dissemination of press releases , publications, articles and sharing of UN City/One UN knowledge and successes.
•    Support the production of guidelines regarding UN City exhibitions and events
•    Help facilitate UN City inter-agency communication projects
•    Assist in organizing events that promote the work of the UN in Denmark
•    Help maintain a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders

Required Skills and Experience
•    University degree
•    6 years of relevant communications experience
•    Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
•    Experience in handling of web-based management systems, CMS
•    Experience in graphic design/photo
•    Experience working in a multi-cultural environment with multiple stakeholders
Language Requirements:
•    Fluency in English and Danish, Swedish or Norwegian
